The first week

The next day was Sunday.  Heather and one of the other midwives came over in the early afternoon to check on Luke and I.  After they left, Megan Guinter came over as Luke's first official visitor.  Emily and Scott Manning also came over for a short time and brought us dinner.  Josh's mom left first thing in the morning and got to our place a little before 8:00 pm.  She was one excited Grandma!  Through most of the day, the three of us just lounged in bed, slept, and Skyped with family.  The day before had been tiring for all of us.  Two men from the church also brought us the sacrament so that we didn't have to worry about going to church that day.

That first week is all kind of a blur; however, we did have a good deal of excitement.  Thank goodness Josh's mom was staying with us; she was a huge help!  We found out that Luke had tongue tie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankyloglossia so we had to go get that taken care of.  Unfortunately, his tongue got infected, which is really rare, and we had to put him on antibiotics his very first week.  We also had the pretty typical problems with Jaundice; however, through prayers and blessings, the little guy made it through without having to be hospitalized.  Other than those exciting bits, the week was spent mostly just trying to get used to having Luke in our home and trying to get as much sleep as possible.  Things were a bit rough, but they were also amazing in ways that I never expected.  The feelings of love that Josh and I had for our son were indescribable; being a parent was more than I could have ever hoped for.

A gift sent to us by the Strykers for Luke's homecoming
